Gear progression is RNG based and isn’t dependent on your level (once you’ve unlocked access to the highest tier of gear). Gear progression will always be the longest grind because it’s so statistically unlikely to receive perfectly rolled gear in every slot. You’ll get the same gear over and over again, sometimes it’ll be an upgrade over what you currently have but usually it won’t. Don’t confuse the level progression aspect with your gear progression because they are two different things. The three progression systems are glyph levels, paragon level, and how well rolled your gear is. ![]() Levels in D4 are just a separate progression system from gear. The difference between the same level same piece of gear but with different rolls can be massive for a build such as hitting breakpoints on cooldown and resource reduction and fat multipliers on things like crit hit damage. Trust me, unlocking access to the highest tier of gear earlier rather than later is a good thing, because the grind for perfect rolls takes a long time. ![]() That’s when the endgame finally starts, because now you can finally start looking for your BIS pieces with the best rolls. You shouldn’t quit after you have ancestral gear unlocked just because there’s no higher item tier. In ARPGs progression isn’t about getting higher level gear, it’s about getting gear with better rolls. I think you’re confusing ARPG progression with RPG progression.
